On Moving Forward and Staying Connected

Hello Friends!

I started Living Big Travel in 2013, and at its core then and now is Connection. It started with reconnecting with myself after a transformational 5 month solo adventure, evolved to finding ways for small-groups of women to connect to themselves, each other and unique experiences on our Hosted Adventures, and most recently - with our new focus on custom Travel Design - we’re focused on creating custom travel experiences that allow clients to connect with their friends, family and travel mates without the stresses and challenges that often come with planning your own trip.  

Along the way we’ve used social media as a way to stay connected to you, but as I evaluate the role social media plays at Living Big Travel, it’s my opinion that social media is no longer serving my goal of staying connected to you the way it once did. 

For many social media is a tool to stay connected with friends and family, but for businesses like Living Big Travel, social media networks (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, etc.) have control over who sees the content businesses post, and that control is most often correlated to the amount of money spent on advertising. In other words, social media networks have shifted their business models over time, and today the predominant business model is based on these companies selling (via advertising) access to what content shows up in your social media feeds. 

Rather than relying on social media as the primary tool to stay connected to you and share travel updates, we’re going to instead use our email program. So if you’re not already signed-up to receive periodic email updates from us, please hop on over to this page to connect. Look for emails landing in your inbox every few weeks that introduce you to new corners of the world - their traditions, people and places, help you really lean into your love of travel, and stay connected to what’s happening in the world of travel.

We’ll be keeping our Facebook and Instagram pages live (we’re also eternally optimistic for change, and might occasionally have a reason to share updates this way!) but will not be monitoring or updating these accounts.
