Croatia 2015: Recap
A few weeks ago I hosted a VERY special group of women on a trip through Croatia. We laughed, we sweat, we biked, hiked, nae-nae’d and had so many {SO MANY} great meals. It’s a trip that I know I’ll always remember, and hope the group feels the same way. Enjoy the photo tour of the highlights from our trip! And if you’re interested in exploring Croatia contact me to learn about the 2016 trip to Croatia I’ll be hosting for a small group of women in Oct. 2016!
PART1: Zagreb + Slovenia
We started our trip in Zagreb, Croatia’s capital city. It’s a great city to start in; easy to get around, friendly and full of fun things to discover. Such as: wine bars that are under old churches, fruit markets, the Museum of Broken Relationships, cathedrals, beautiful city parks, savory donuts and more! We took a day-trip to Slovenia to explore two amazing underground caves. It was so dark, and cameras weren’t ‘technically’ allowed, so sorry I don’t have more photos to share from this epic Indiana and Jones-esq environment!
PART 2: Plitvica Lake
This national park is one of my fav in the world; lakes for days and days and days. And there are these amazing wood planks across the water that allow you to get up close to the environment + crystal clear waters. We stayed in a traditional soba {small family-run home, similar to a B&B} and enjoyed meals outside, bike rides around the country side and cooling off in the nearby stream.
PART 3: Split and Mostar
This was our first stop along the Dalmatian Coast. We stayed right in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace, enjoyed amazing seafood meals, walked the ‘riva’ at night with gelato, sat on the town square listening to live music, was serenaded by placa singers, hiked to the top of a local mountain to enjoy the sweeping views off the coast and had a memorable picnic lunch at a local fortress {Meereen for GOT fans!} We also spent one afternoon exploring Mostar and learning about the history over the war-torn city. Over lunch we enjoyed chevapi, a classic dish from the region that is similar to a meatball, in view of the beautiful Stari Bridge.
Part 4: Dubrovnik
Now this is truly a magical city. One I think everyone should visit at least once in their life! The city is surrounded by old city walls and right on the edge of the water. We enjoyed delicious meals, both at lovely restaurants and from the roof-top deck of our apartment, amazing history, views that take your breath away and easy access to nearby islands.
PART 5: Lopud Island
After saying goodbye to this amazing group of women I spent a few days on Lopud Island. This island is just an hour ferry ride from Dubrovnik, but it feels like a million miles away! My time here was filled with rest and relaxation, swimming in the ocean and hiking to the top of mountains.
This was really an epic week: so full of beautiful sights, inspiring women + community, delicious food, intriguing history, laughter and a lifetime of memories. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the opportunity to share my favorite corners of Croatia with you!
I hope to share Croatia with more women. Join me in 2016 to see for yourself what the buzz around Croatia is all about! Click here to learn more…
